Do Kids in Our Community Need Help?

YES!
Kids qualifying for Free or Reduced Meals:
10,787 Kids in Douglas County
3,162 Kids in Littleton
1,498 Kids in Englewood

These are just the students officially enrolled in free or reduced lunch programs ~ but we know many more families struggle silently. Some don’t qualify for assistance, others are too proud or afraid to ask for help.

At Backpack Society, we see them all. Your support helps us fill the gap so no child goes hungry in our community.

Your donation will go towards food for school aged kids in Douglas County, Littleton and Englewood School Districts.

Why Donate During Colorado Gives?
Your donation will be boosted by the Colorado Gives Foundation. That means when you give during this special campaign period, your donation is amplified!

Boost your gift even further by creating a monthly recurring donation.
The first month of a recurring donation is matched 100%, up to $100!

Why Donate to Backpack Society?
We feed kids on weekends and breaks when they are away from school provided meal programs.

The most at-risk students for food insecurity are also the ones who are most affected by the achievement gap and poor academic outcomes that can have lifelong effects. By providing weekend food, we hope students can focus on the important things ~ Like Being a Kid!

About Backpack Society

What do we do?

  • Backpack Society's mission is to to remove food insecurity as an obstacle for children so they can grow, learn, and thrive.

  • We provide food to kids on weekends and breaks when they don't have access to food at school.

  • We work with food partners who supply food at discounted prices.

How do we do it?

  • We pack weekend bags at Backpack Society and our volunteers deliver them each week to our partner schools.

  • We are partnered  with 73 schools to identify kids in need.

  • Our programs include:

    • Student Weekend Bags - Providing 6 easy to prepare meals and snacks.

    • Family Grocery Program - A weekly "No Cost" Market or a box filled with produce, meats, dairy, eggs & pantry items.

    • In-School Pantry - An in-school pantry filled with grab and go snacks, so teacher don't have to use their own money to help their students.

    • Holiday Meal Program - Providing Thanksgiving meals for our families.

Who do we serve?

  • Students in Douglas County, Littleton and Englewood School Districts.

How will we use your donation?

  • We will buy food discounted through our partners to supply 4,000 weekend bags of food and perishable grocery items to local kids and their families!

  • This will bridge the gap between what we have in inventory and what we need to provide for the rest of the 2025-2026 school year.

Thank you for your support!
